Summer Reading List

Happy Friday!

Summer is here and I love it!  It is a time to soak in the sun, play outdoors, and slow down…hopefully!  I love to read but don’t always make time for it.  I love to read in the summer for some reason, especially on vacation.  But now with a toddler that doesn’t really happen :).  This summer I am going to try to spend more time reading.  I have so many books I want to get to.  I thought I would share with you my summer reading list and I would love to hear what you are reading too!  Usually I start one book and finish it and then move on to the next, but I just couldn’t wait to start these books!

All of the books I am sharing below have really changed my heart, perspective, and the way I live my life.  The Lord has really been working in me through these books and I am so excited to be on this journey with Him as He teaches me how to be a better wife, mom, and friend, to live a healthier life, to be grateful for what I have been given, and to discover my talents and use them to serve others!

summer reading

1.   The Honest Life By Jessica Alba- Easy read and great resource to use on a regular basis.  She gives great tips on living a healthy life from the food you eat to the cleaners you use and even the way you decorate your house.  Love this book!  And I am a huge fan of the Honest Company.  I will do a post soon on the products that I use from them because they are wonderful!  If you are interested in ordering from the Honest Company you can go here.  You can find the Honest Life here for a great deal!

2.  One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voscamp- Life. Changing. period.  So so good so far!   Ann Voscamp challenges us to live a life of gratitude even a midst the mundane daily tasks, pain, and even in experiencing deep loss.  Beautifully written!  Go get your copy here!

3.  A Million Little Ways by Emily P. Freeman-  I just started this book and I’m not very far into it, but I can already tell it’s a good one!  Emily suggests that we were all created to be artists whether it is to be a painter, a scupltor, a teacher, a mom.  She says, “It’s time to live as though we believe we have something to offer.” I am so excited about this one and can’t wait to read more!  To purchase click here.

I am also going to be doing a Bible study with some moms from my MOPS group and I am really excited about it!  We are doing Beth Moore’s Children of The Day study.  I have done a Beth Moore study before and LOVED it!  I am excited to see what the Lord is going to teach me.  If you are interested in the workbook shown you can go here.

Friends, what are you reading right now?!  I would love to hear your recommendations (especially on any good parenting books)!  Please share with me either in the comments or through email.  Hope you all have a great weekend!

Happy Reading!

  1. Great reading list! I have read 1000 gifts and it changed my life-exactly what I needed at the right time! Currently, my 5 year old and I are engaged in her first chapter books, so I am getting a ton of reading done, but it is only at the first grade level :) she and I try to get in a few chapters a day of Ivy & Bean, & then we will be on to Clemontine & The One Hundred Dresses. It is so fun to steal time away with my oldest baby and enjoy reading together. It has become a special time for she and I.

Right now I am reading “Sparkly Green Earrings” by Melanie Shankle-it follows her motherhood journey with humor, laughter and whole lotta love. It makes me focus on how even the silly, and not so silly moments of motherhood are all important. It’s a good one. With three little ones at home for the summer my reading list is not long, but when I do get a chance to read, it is so refreshing. happy summer momma’s!

    • Thank you so much for sharing, Britt! I will have to check out “Sparkly Green Earrings.” I’m so excited for the day when my little guy is reading TO me, but I am also soaking up the times I get to read to him! Enjoy the summer with your sweet little ones!
