Finding Beauty in The Everyday-Snap Shop Course

Happy Monday!

For some time now Alisa and I have been reading Ashley Ann’s blog, Under The Sycamore.  Many of you probably read it too.  I am inspired by her each day to be a better mother, wife, friend, daughter and human being.  She shares from her heart from her little piece of the world and touches so many!

Ashley teaches photography through online courses she has created called Snap Shop.  I have been wanting to take one of her courses for a while and when she had a special in the month of December my husband encouraged me to sign up…so I did!  And I am so glad I did!  I took her phone course (there is also a DSLR course) and loved it!  I would highly recommend it!   Not just if you are interested in taking better pictures with your phone, but if you desire to learn how to capture the beauty of your days and tell the story of your life through photography.

The course includes the basics of photography composition, lighting, how to tell a story with your photos, editing options, and so much more.  She starts with the very basics.  I didn’t know I was such a beginner…its like a whole new world opened up for me!  (You can go here to find out more info.)  It is set up in a format that lets you interact with the other students and the teacher (Ashley) through a comment section and through the use of Instagram.

I really enjoyed the course for so many reasons.  First, as a mom of a one year old I rarely get time to myself to do something for myself.  It was fun to learn something new and improve my photography skills.  I also loved that the course was user friendly.  There was plenty of time to get through the material and have time to go back and review as well.  I loved how Ashley gave practice ideas!

The most important thing that I have taken away from this class is that my days are filled with beauty, as mundane as they can sometimes be.  Life can be hard.  We were never promised that it would be easy.  We experience loss, loneliness, and pain at times.  Not all days are good days, but there is good in every day.  I love that saying.  I am challenging myself to look for the good in each day.  There is so much to be grateful for.

Below are some more photos taken during and after taking the Snap Shop course.  They make me smile and remind me of how much I have to be thankful for.  Follow me on Instagram as I learn to capture the beauty in my days!

There is a lot of beauty in the everyday.  Thank you Ashley for teaching me to look for it and capture it to have as a memory forever!

  2. Beautiful photos, Marissa! And of course of my favorite son and our grandson. I love the one where he’s holding his Teddy Bear and looking out the front window since you said that smile was when he saw me walking up to the front door. Precious forever!

  3. Thank you for this info., Marissa Your pictures are precious and look so professional. I would like to learn to take better pictures and then actually do something with them. Love your blog,
